COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – Rainfall is expected to linger on Tuesday before cooler temperatures settle in for the midweek.
Tuesday: Unseasonably warm and humid air ahead of an approaching front will bring scattered downpours through midday. By the afternoon, most of the rain is anticipated to shift into Alabama. Temperatures will hover around 70 degrees by midday in some areas, while regions northwest of the Natchez Trace may experience steady or falling temperatures by early afternoon.
Tuesday Night: Following the frontal passage, temperatures will drop sharply, plummeting through the 40s and into the 30s overnight. Gusty northwest winds, reaching up to 20-25 mph, will accompany the drop in temperatures.
Wednesday and Thursday: Clearer skies will dominate Wednesday, bringing seasonably cool conditions with highs in the 50s. Another cold night is expected, with overnight lows dipping into the 20s. Thursday will continue the trend of sunny skies and highs in the 50s.
Weekend Outlook: Clouds will increase on Friday ahead of a new weather system arriving Saturday. Scattered rain is likely on Saturday, but conditions should dry out by Sunday, with highs reaching the 60s.
