Winter Weather Advisory in Effect: Slick Roads Expected in Northern Areas
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in place until 9 p.m. tonight for regions along and north of the Nebraska border. Freezing drizzle is creating hazardous conditions on roads and highways, particularly in northern areas near Highway 36. However, with temperatures expected to rise above freezing quickly, the freezing drizzle is likely to subside within a couple of hours.
Later tonight, rain showers are forecast to move in from the southwest, becoming heavier toward the eastern parts of the region. Precipitation is expected to taper off by midday Saturday, with rainfall accumulations projected to range from a trace to 0.25 inches by Saturday afternoon.
Saturday will bring a warming trend, with temperatures climbing into the upper 40s. Even milder weather is anticipated from Sunday through Tuesday, with highs reaching the mid-50s. However, a cold front is expected to sweep through on Tuesday night, causing temperatures to drop from the low 50s to the upper 30s by Wednesday afternoon.
