Good evening, East Texas! The area can expect the return of clouds tonight as temperatures drop into the mid and upper 40s overnight.
Tomorrow, Saturday, will be a cloudy day with a southeast breeze, along with a few sprinkles and showers here and there. The chance of rain is around 10%. Temperatures in the afternoon will reach the upper 50s and low 60s.
As we move into Sunday morning, temperatures will not fall significantly as our high for Sunday is expected early in the day due to an approaching cold front. This cold front brings a chance for a few strong to severe thunderstorms, making Sunday a First Alert Weather Day.
Behind this line of storms, windy conditions will prevail, with northwest winds gusting up to 30-40 mph. By Sunday afternoon, temperatures will quickly fall into the 40s, and by Monday morning, we can expect temperatures in the 20s.
This will mark the first widespread hard freeze of the season, prompting another First Alert Weather Day for Monday morning. Although temperatures are expected to warm above freezing in the afternoon, it will still be cold and breezy.
Looking ahead, there is uncertainty in the forecast regarding the possibility of winter precipitation. Weather models indicate the potential for snow and/or ice, but the areas impacted and the totals have varied widely from model update to model update.
We will closely monitor these trends over the weekend and provide updates on the significance of this possibility in the days ahead. Stay tuned to KLTV on-air and our digital platforms for the latest updates. Have a great evening.
