In Toledo, Ohio, a mother was able to identify her two sons on a surveillance video allegedly stealing a car. Upon recognizing them, she immediately contacted the police and handed them over to the authorities.
In an interview with 13 Action News, the mother expressed her disappointment and disapproval towards such behavior.
Shaniqua, the mother of the boys, expressed her frustration and anger at the situation. She knew her boys well and believed that this behavior was out of character for them. Shaniqua felt that her boys were influenced by the wrong crowd and were simply following along.
According to her, the age of her sons is 15 and 16 years old.
Shaniqua expressed that if she had simply watched the video without taking any action, she would have felt guilty. She acknowledged that, like any other mother who knows that their child is engaging in inappropriate behavior, she was compelled to take action upon seeing the video. As a mother, she felt responsible to do the right thing, which prompted her to message the person and address the issue.
After receiving assistance from several individuals on the street, the owner of the car dealership was able to locate the green Dodge Charger that had been stolen. The vehicle had been parked in reverse inside a garage located in a vacant, boarded-up residence situated on the 900 block of Norwood.
The authorities in Toledo have pressed charges against the teenagers for receiving stolen property. However, the police are still on the lookout for them.
According to Shaniqua, she relocated from Toledo to Columbus with the sole purpose of ensuring her boys stay away from the streets. She revealed that her sons had runaway tendencies, and she had a heartfelt message for her relatives in Toledo.
People are aware that you are sheltering them. Their actions have been broadcasted on the news and are being discussed by everyone. Instead of protecting them and reporting them to the authorities, they are committing crimes such as brandishing guns and stealing vehicles. This behavior is unacceptable.
The plea from her is for the family and friends to report the kids to the police.
“I’m at a loss for what else to do. I’ve already contacted the police, tried to enroll these kids in programs, and even attempted to find them employment. Yet, despite my efforts, I still feel helpless and scared for my children’s safety. It’s gotten to the point where I’d rather have the police take them away than risk something happening to them.”

The Lucas County Juvenile Detention Center is where the kids will be booked upon their arrest.
