Tesla Continues to See Decline Car Registrations in California

kglonews.com, Calif. – Tesla car registrations in California have fallen for the third consecutive quarter.

According to Reuters, there was a 24% decrease from April to June, with the data released on Thursday.

The outlet attributes the decline to high interest rates, a competitive electric vehicle market, and the controversial personality of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

This week, Musk, the pro-Trump billionaire businessman and investor, revealed plans to relocate the headquarters of SpaceX and social media company X from California. This move follows the state’s new ban on requiring school staff to inform parents about changes in their children’s gender identity.

SpaceX will shift from Hawthorne, California to Starbase, Texas, while X will move from San Francisco to Austin.

On Saturday, Musk publicly endorsed presidential candidate Trump, shortly after the former president’s assassination attempt at a campaign rally.

Reuters references a report from the California New Car Dealers Association, which reveals that Tesla’s California registrations dropped to 52,211 vehicles in the second quarter. The report notes that Tesla’s “allure seems to be wearing off.”

In the January to July period, Tesla’s registrations in California decreased by 17%.
