Suspect linked to a spree of armed robberies captured in Ohio after a pursuit

Early Thursday morning, police in Hicksville, Ohio, caught a suspect after an armed robbery turned into a car chase.

Around 3 a.m., someone broke into a Phil’s One Stop near the middle of town with a gun. The Hicksville Police Department responded to the scene. A gun threatened the worker, according to the police.

Hicksville police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Octavious J.H. Roberson from Fort Wayne, who led them on a 3-mile chase before crashing his car. Subsequently, Roberson lost control of his car, causing it to flip over multiple times before he managed to escape.

After receiving treatment at a Fort Wayne hospital, they transferred him to the Allen County Jail. The Allen County Jail is holding him while awaiting his return to Ohio on charges of armed robbery. There are more charges coming.

The Huntington County, Indiana Sheriff’s Department said in a press release that they have proof linking Roberson to several thefts in Indiana and Ohio, including an armed theft that occurred at a CITGO gas station in Andrews, Indiana, on November 7. Authorities also suspected Roberson of being involved in an armed robbery at a gas station in Liberty Center, Wells County, Indiana, on November 12.

This investigation is ongoing.
