While patrolling in Lexington Park on Sunday, July 28, a sheriff’s deputy pulled over a teenage driver in a Ford F-150 for equipment violations. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer discovered a firearm resting against the passenger’s left leg, leading to a subsequent investigation.
The sheriff’s office detained both the driver and the passenger, whose identities remain unknown. They proceeded to conduct a search of the Ford, during which they discovered a 7.62 X 39mm Draco pistol with ammunition already in the chamber.
Upon investigation, authorities discovered that the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia had previously reported the weapon as stolen.
Authorities took the passenger into custody and pressed charges against them as an adult for the following offenses:

- Transporting a handgun in a vehicle;
- Possession of a loaded handgun in a vehicle;
- Possession of a stolen regulated firearm;
- Possession of a firearm by a minor and other related offenses.
He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where he is currently being held until his bond hearing.
