Spencer mother convicted of stabbing and killing lady after girls get into fight is expected in court

In 2022, a woman from Spencer is awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of fatally stabbing another woman following a fight between their daughters.

In October 2022, there was an altercation between the daughters of Kayla McNeal and Vaneesa Wade. According to investigators, both women, who were neighbors in Spencer, became involved in the incident.

McNeal used a kitchen knife to fatally stab 29-year-old Wade.

“In 2022, Aaron Brilbeck from the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office expressed his concern for the children involved in the tragic incident. He highlighted that these children are the true victims, as they will not only lose their mother but also witness another mother possibly spending the rest of her life in prison.”

McNeal faced conviction for second-degree murder, which carries a minimum sentence of 10 years. Following her conviction, the jury recommended a 35-year prison term for her.

McNeal’s lawyers have submitted a motion to appeal her conviction.
