SE Oklahoma City hotel blaze fought by firefighters in unoccupied building

On Wednesday afternoon, the Oklahoma City Fire Department swiftly responded to a fire at a vacant hotel.

At around 12:30 p.m., the OKCFD received a call and promptly dispatched crews to a deserted building situated near S I-35 Service Road.

According to Assistant PIO John Chenoweth of OKCFD, there have been numerous fires at this property over the course of several months. However, the most significant fire to date occurred recently.

According to officials, the flames grew into a three-alarm fire, and additional departments were called in for assistance. Tragically, the hotel’s second-story balcony eventually collapsed under the intense heat of the fire.

A single individual sustained a laceration and was transported to a hospital in close proximity. There have been no reports of any injuries to firefighters.

The fire was brought under control by the fire crews.
