Prosecutor: Newark Woman Found Guilty of Attempting to Hide Gun in Jail

According to Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II, Talisha Arrington was held in custody at Newark Police headquarters on Clinton Avenue following an altercation at a White Castle restaurant on Elizabeth Avenue in July 2020.

According to Stephens, after being taken to the holding cell, Arrington pulled out a handgun that had been concealed on her person. She then tried to hide the firearm in the holding cell. Fortunately, Newark officials were able to recover the weapon, and Arrington faced charges as a result.

After seven hours, Stephens stated that she was convicted of unlawful possession of a handgun and tampering with evidence by a jury. She also mentioned that she is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
