Pritzker says border crossings have been decreasing for several months as he anticipates a spike

Governor J.B. Pritzker has refrained from revealing whether or not he is being considered as a potential vice presidential candidate for the Democratic party. However, he did express his thoughts on the possibility of a new influx of migrants entering the state.

A Republican from Illinois asserts that the policies of Pritzker on the national level are unaffordable for U.S. taxpayers.

On Monday, Pritzker was asked if he was being vetted for the position of second-in-command now that Joe Biden has withdrawn from the race and endorsed Kamala Harris. However, Pritzker declined to reveal any details regarding his conversation with the Vice President, citing it as a private matter.

Pritzker stated that he has dedicated himself to Kamala Harris and is determined to put in every effort to secure victory in the upcoming election. He emphasized the urgency of the matter, stating that Donald Trump cannot continue serving as the president of the United States.

According to State Rep. Brad Halbrook, a Republican from Shelbyville, Governor Pritzker may have aspirations for a higher office and is pushing a far-left and Marxist agenda. Halbrook believes that Pritzker is not concerned with the Constitution or border issues and will continue to increase taxes, borrow more money, and spend excessively if he becomes the second most powerful person in the country after the president.

Halbrook, in an interview with The Center Square, expressed concern about the affordability of J.B. Pritzker for the people of Illinois. He further added that the policies of the Democratic party are not sustainable for the country as a whole.

The national convention of Democrats is set to kick off on August 19 in Chicago. The selection of Harris’ running mate, however, remains uncertain. Governor Pritzker shared that the decision might be made within the next 10 to 14 days.

As we approach the convention, there is anticipation of a significant increase in non-citizen migrants. The responsibility for this problem is still being debated.

Chicago has been receiving over 45,000 non-citizen migrants from the southern U.S. border for almost two years now. Recently, at the Republican National Convention, Texas Governor Greg Abbott made a promise to keep transporting migrants to sanctuary cities like Chicago, which do not adhere to federal immigration laws.

“We will continue to secure our border until those buses stop rolling,” he asserted.

During an unrelated event on Monday, Governor Pritzker revealed that state and local officials are currently focused on expanding their capacity for a potential influx of non-citizen migrant arrivals in the upcoming weeks. However, they haven’t noticed any such surge yet.

According to Pritzker, the governor of Texas seems to have no regard for the well-being of the migrants who cross the border and end up in his state. Instead, he simply sends them to other parts of the country, such as Chicago. However, there has been no indication that he has increased the number of migrants being sent to the city.

According to Pritzker, the Biden administration has successfully curtailed the influx of border crossings in recent weeks through agreements with various countries. He noted that these measures have been effective in stemming the tide of illegal immigration.

According to Pritzker, there has been a significant decrease in border crossings in the past two years and even more so in the past two months. He personally checks on these numbers on a weekly basis.

According to a fact-check by The Center Square, Biden’s assertions about a decrease in border crossings are not accurate. The analysis took into account all available data, including the Biden administration’s latest policies that allow foreign nationals to enter the country and unreported getaway statistics. Consequently, it is evident that the claims made by Biden are verifiably false.

The number of foreign nationals with no lawful basis to enter who were encountered monthly at ports of entry has risen significantly from the end of the Trump administration, reaching over 117,000 in June 2024 under the Biden administration, up from nearly 20,000 previously.

According to Halbrook, the Biden-Harris administration’s lax border policies have led to a flood of migrants in Texas.

Halbrook expressed frustration on behalf of the people of Texas, stating that they are tired of being burdened with the consequences of poor policies made in Washington D.C. “The citizens of Texas can’t take this any longer. Why should they be held responsible to pay the freight on the bad Washington D.C. policy,” he exclaimed.

Over the last two years, Texas taxpayers have footed a bill of at least $148 million due to Abbott’s program, reports the Texas Tribune. Meanwhile, in Illinois, taxpayers are expected to spend over $900 million in the current fiscal year to subsidize non-citizen health care, housing, food, education, and legal services. The cost of such services has already exceeded $1 billion since August of 2022. These figures highlight the significant financial burden borne by taxpayers to support these programs.
