Authorities have announced that two suspects, both aged 21, have been charged in connection to the tragic and fatal shooting of 16-year-old Juan Roach in Prince George’s County towards the end of last month.
A double shooting incident occurred resulting in the death of one person and injury of another. Two individuals, Akiya Bagley and Walter Plummer, both residents of the District and Suitland respectively, have been identified and are facing charges in connection with the incident.
Around 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, the Prince George’s County Police Department received a call to investigate reports of shots fired in the 7400 block of Towne Park Road.
When they arrived at the scene, Roach was already suffering from a fatal gunshot wound, while another man had also been shot. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the second man were deemed non-life-threatening.
According to the police, Roach was shot during a robbery.
According to investigators, it was found that there were multiple gunmen at the scene and more than one firearm was discharged. They also discovered that several individuals were armed during the incident. A weapon was recovered in the courtyard area of the property.
Plummer faced charges of first-degree and second-degree murder along with related offenses, while Bagley was charged with assault, accessory after the fact, and other offenses.
They are currently in custody without bond.
As of Wednesday, July 10, the investigation into the fatal shooting is still ongoing as the authorities strive to locate any other individuals involved in the incident.
The community has come together to support Roach’s family during this difficult time. A GoFundMe campaign has been created, which has already raised over $17,000 within a few days after the shooting. The funds will be used to cover the expenses of the funeral, as the family prepares to lay their teenager to rest.
