Police detain 5 people for driving a stolen vehicle

Police have apprehended five individuals, three of whom are teenagers, for allegedly being in possession of a stolen vehicle on Getwell Road. The suspects are currently in custody.

Officers found a vehicle at the 1700 block of Getwell around 2:00 p.m.

The suspect vehicle was involved in numerous robberies and had been reported stolen. Law enforcement officers utilized stop sticks and tried to initiate a traffic stop.

As the car exited 240 and Getwell, additional officers in the area witnessed it colliding with another vehicle and eventually coming to a halt.

Police apprehended one suspect who was found inside the vehicle while the other four fled the scene.

Assisted by K-9s and aviation, law enforcement officials were able to locate and capture the remaining four suspects, according to police reports.

Three teenagers and two adults are currently in custody by officers.

During the foot pursuit, a juvenile suspect sustained an injury and was taken to Le Bonheur in a non-critical condition. Additionally, another juvenile was taken to Le Bonheur in a non-critical condition due to a medical condition unrelated to the pursuit.

During the search and foot pursuit, an officer sustained injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital. However, the officer’s condition is reported to be non-critical.

No charges have been filed yet.

According to authorities, the investigation is currently ongoing.
