Police arrest 3 individuals in connection with alleged robbery of 79-year-old woman at Ward Parkway shops

Prosecutors in Jackson County claim that last Thursday night, three individuals physically assaulted a 79-year-old woman after she and her granddaughters had completed their shopping at the Ward Parkway Trader Joe’s.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on December 12, police received a report of a strong-armed robbery in the parking lot outside the store.

According to court documents, the woman was assessed at the scene but declined further medical attention out of concern for her granddaughters, as she did not want them to be traumatized by the incident.

Target employees guided the police to a white Toyota Camry, where they believed the suspects were situated.

During the traffic stop, the authorities intercepted a Camry and discovered three individuals inside. Among them, Omarion Swift, a 20-year-old suspect, was reportedly found with the stolen financial cards.

On Saturday, Swift faced charges for allegedly committing second-degree robbery and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card. Detectives also interrogated a second adult suspect, identified as Jeremy Madden, 18, who was subsequently charged with second-degree robbery and fraudulent use of a debit/credit card.

The authorities did not question the third suspect, who is a minor. Instead, they took the suspect to a juvenile detention facility due to their alleged involvement in fraudulent activities using a debit/credit card.

Both Swift and Madden were supposed to appear in court on Monday afternoon. They are currently being held at the Jackson County Detention Center on a bond of $10,000 each.
