Late on Saturday night, the Kansas City Police Department was called to a disturbance at a well-known holiday pop-up bar.
Shortly before midnight on December 14th, the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) received a dispatch to the Miracle pop-up bar located at West 48th Street and Jefferson Street on the Country Club Plaza.
Callers alerted the police about a person who was reportedly attempting to stab people with a knife inside the bar. Upon their arrival, the officers discovered that the bar’s employees had successfully cornered the suspect and secured the individual by using stools and other pieces of furniture as a barricade.
The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) reported that they apprehended the suspect without any complications, and fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries during the incident. However, the identity of the suspect has not been disclosed at this time.
On Sunday morning, Miracle on the Plaza assured customers that they would be open for business as usual, but with added security measures in place.
We had an unfortunate incident last night at Miracle on the Plaza. A patron was removed on Thursday evening for being disruptive then tried to come back last night. This patron resisted removal and the police were called and he was removed. He came back into the building at around 11:30 PM with a knife. He was subdued by our trained staff. Fortunately, through their heroic actions there were no injuries during this incident. Moving forward, we will add additional security and off duty police officers to reinforce that the safety of our patrons and employees is our top priority.
