Passenger Dies From Injuries Sustained in November Waldo Crash

A passenger critically injured in a three-vehicle crash in Waldo has died from his injuries after weeks of fighting for his life.

The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department reported that the collision occurred around 8:25 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, at the intersection of E. 83rd Street and Troost Avenue, near the Village Apartments.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, where they found a black Volkswagen and a black Volvo traveling south on Troost Avenue. A silver Chevrolet, facing east on 83rd Street, had stopped when the incident occurred.

Authorities stated that the driver of the Chevrolet pulled out in front of both the Volkswagen and Volvo, resulting in a collision on the driver’s side of the Chevrolet.

The passenger in the back seat of the Chevrolet was rushed to Research Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, though it remains unclear if he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

On Thursday, Dec. 5, investigators confirmed that the passenger had passed away just before 1:40 p.m. No further details regarding the incident have been released.
