According to the official website of the state, around 11,000 people in Oregon have been given evacuation orders of some degree as a result of the ongoing wildfires. The website also provides information on the current evacuation situation.
According to Lauren Maloney, a public information officer working for the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center, there are currently 15 large wildfires that are not under control in Oregon. This has led to the Pacific Northwest being at a preparedness level of five.
She explained that the maximum level of preparedness has been reached, which indicates that they are fully equipped to handle any situation that may arise. With a significant number of resources deployed in the area, including air resources and personnel, the incident management teams are managing fires and prioritizing the safety of the public and firefighters.
According to Maloney, it is crucial to prevent any new wildfires. She highlights the need to exercise caution when operating equipment or driving in wooded areas, as either of them could potentially ignite a fire. It is important to be mindful and take necessary precautions to avoid any such incidents.
