Thursday morning began with a slight chill as temperatures dipped below freezing. However, as we move into the afternoon, we can expect plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures in the upper 50s, possibly reaching the low 60s.
The good news is that it won’t feel much colder than it actually is. Tonight, as we transition into the overnight hours, temperatures will drop to the mid to low 30s, setting the stage for yet another chilly morning tomorrow.
As we approach Friday, the sun will continue to shine brightly, and our temperatures will climb to the upper 50s to lower 60s.
However, as we move into Saturday morning, the mercury will drop to the upper 20s, which may lead to a hard freeze.
It is crucial to safeguard your outdoor pets, plants, and pipes during this time. By Saturday afternoon, the skies will remain clear, but the temperatures will only reach the mid 50s.
On Sunday, a cold front will be crossing the southeast, bringing with it a line of heavy showers and strong wind gusts. Expect wind gusts of around 30 mph or higher.
Later in the evening, this front will push across Mississippi and into Alabama, bringing a line of heavy showers. Some of these showers have the potential to become severe, which is why the Storm Prediction Center has placed a 15% risk for severe thunderstorms for the majority of our viewing area.
