MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – The city of Meridian, Mississippi, is making strides towards progress and development. With its vibrant community and rich history, Meridian is a city that is on the rise.

The city’s leaders are working tirelessly to ensure that Meridian remains a great place to live, work, and play.

From revitalizing downtown to investing in education and infrastructure, Meridian is committed to creating opportunities for its residents and attracting new businesses and visitors.

One of the key priorities for the city is revitalizing its downtown area. The downtown district is the heart of Meridian, and efforts are being made to restore its historic buildings and attract new businesses.

The city is working with developers and investors to create a vibrant and welcoming downtown that will be a hub of activity for locals and tourists alike.

Education is another area where Meridian is focusing its efforts. The city’s leaders recognize the importance of a strong education system in attracting businesses and creating opportunities for residents.

Investments are being made in schools and educational programs to ensure that Meridian’s students have the resources they need to succeed.

Infrastructure is also a top priority for the city. Meridian is investing in improving its roads, bridges, and public transportation system to make it easier for residents to get around and for businesses to thrive.

These infrastructure improvements not only benefit the community but also make Meridian an attractive destination for visitors.

Meridian’s commitment to progress and development is evident in the positive changes happening throughout the city. From a revitalized downtown to improved education and infrastructure, Meridian is a city that is on the move.

With its strong sense of community and dedication to growth, Meridian is well-positioned for a bright future.

Thursday morning began with a slight chill as temperatures dipped below freezing. However, as we move into the afternoon, we can expect plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures in the upper 50s, possibly reaching the low 60s.

The good news is that it won’t feel much colder than it actually is. Tonight, as we transition into the overnight hours, temperatures will drop to the mid to low 30s, setting the stage for yet another chilly morning tomorrow.

As we approach Friday, the sun will continue to shine brightly, and our temperatures will climb to the upper 50s to lower 60s.

However, as we move into Saturday morning, the mercury will drop to the upper 20s, which may lead to a hard freeze.

It is crucial to safeguard your outdoor pets, plants, and pipes during this time. By Saturday afternoon, the skies will remain clear, but the temperatures will only reach the mid 50s.

On Sunday, a cold front will be crossing the southeast, bringing with it a line of heavy showers and strong wind gusts. Expect wind gusts of around 30 mph or higher.

Later in the evening, this front will push across Mississippi and into Alabama, bringing a line of heavy showers. Some of these showers have the potential to become severe, which is why the Storm Prediction Center has placed a 15% risk for severe thunderstorms for the majority of our viewing area.

Make sure to stay updated with your First Alert Weather Team for any further updates.

After the storms pass, we can expect a wave of even colder air to descend upon us, leading to a significant drop in temperatures. On Monday, highs will only reach the 40s, and overnight lows will dip into the 20s.

With wind gusts still reaching 30 mph or more, it will feel even colder than the actual temperature. Make sure you’re ready for the frigid cold weather coming our way next week.
