Multi-Vehicle Accidents Shut Down Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley
The Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley turned chaotic Monday morning as two separate multi-vehicle accidents at the Peekskill Hollow Road and Bryant Pond Road interchanges halted traffic during the busy commute.
The first crash involved five vehicles, with drivers hailing from Dutchess and Columbia counties. Shortly after, a second incident occurred, resulting in a three-vehicle collision involving motorists from Orange, Dutchess, and Columbia counties.
Emergency responders from across Putnam County, along with State Police, the sheriff’s office, Kent Police, and Putnam Paramedics, rushed to the scene to manage the situation.
Several individuals sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals by ambulances from Putnam Valley, Kent, and Mohegan Lake.
Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution, especially during early morning hours, as seasonal black ice can make roads treacherously slippery.
