A weak December tornado touched down in Missouri over the weekend, as confirmed by the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service in Springfield, Missouri, has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Missouri during a brief thunderstorm that passed through Benton County on Saturday, December 14th.
According to the NWS, a tornado of EF-0 strength caused significant damage near Warsaw. The tornado had peak winds of up to 80 mph and touched down just after 3:40 p.m. It tore through over a mile of land, leaving a 75-yard path of destruction that lasted for approximately 5 minutes.
The storm caused damage to trees and an outbuilding. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
