A man from Kansas City was sentenced this week for the murder of his wife in January 2020.
Jackson County Judge Sarah Castle handed down a 21-year prison sentence to Brandon Petsch, 40, on Monday.
Earlier this month, Petsch admitted his guilt for second-degree murder and had the armed criminal action charge against him dropped.
On January 11, 2020, a man alerted the police and requested them to conduct a welfare check at his son’s residence on West 98th Street near Wornall Road, as stated in the charging documents.
Starting on January 1, rideshare services will replace a majority of bus services, leading to increased independence for commuters.
The man expressed his worry to the police, stating that he was concerned about his son’s potential suicide attempt. He further mentioned that his son and daughter-in-law were unresponsive to phone calls, intensifying his apprehension.
The man who dialed 911 entered the residence forcefully and immediately noticed the presence of blood. Emergency responders discovered an unresponsive Petsch lying in his bed. They swiftly transported him to a nearby hospital.
