A man from Mississippi, who was charged with manufacturing counterfeit money and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, received his sentence this week in Columbia County, Florida.
Bryan Chapman, aged 27, has been sentenced to a federal prison term of 3 years and 10 months by the Department of Justice.
As part of the court’s ruling, Chapman has been instructed to surrender a Bushmaster pistol, ammunition, and a printer. Additionally, he must return the funds he acquired through his fraudulent actions to the victims.
Chapman traveled from Tennessee to Florida between late 2023 and January 2024, as confirmed by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout his journey, he engaged in the production of counterfeit money and subsequently utilized it at multiple establishments.
In January 2024, a CCSO deputy conducted an investigation on a vehicle in which Chapman was riding as a passenger. During the investigation, the CCSO found a loaded firearm, ammunition, and equipment used for making counterfeit money. They also discovered a total of 78 counterfeit $20 bills along with 35 incomplete counterfeit $20 bills.
The CCSO later discovered that Chapman had been released on bond for a felony firearm charge in Mississippi and had a prior conviction for aggravated assault in Tennessee.
