Wyandotte County Approves Hollywood Casino’s Proposal for New Hotel Near Kansas Speedway
Kansas City, Kansas – The Wyandotte County Commission has approved Hollywood Casino’s proposal to build a new hotel near Kansas Speedway. The decision was made during a meeting on Thursday evening, with commissioners voting 8-2 in favor.
The casino, which received STAR bonds in 2014, had initially pledged to construct a 250-room hotel within two years of its opening over a decade ago. However, the project never materialized.
Under the new proposal, the hotel will have only 125 rooms, significantly fewer than originally planned. In return, Hollywood Casino has committed to donating an additional $350,000 annually to local charities.
The revised plan represents a compromise aimed at benefiting the community while fulfilling the casino’s long-standing promise.
