ATLANTA — Former beauty queen and Georgia mother Lindsay Shiver, who is accused of being involved in a murder-for-hire plot against her estranged husband, has reported domestic abuse by her new boyfriend, according to court records.
Dothan police have charged 35-year-old Dorsey Ryan Love of Ashford, Alabama, with strangulation, as reported by WTVY-TV.
The charges are related to an incident on July 31, six days after he allegedly choked Shiver.
In her request for a protective order, Shiver stated that Love pushed her onto a bed, choked her, attempted to suffocate her with a pillow, and threatened to kill both her and the TV station reporter.
The alleged incident occurred at a residence in Dothan, Alabama.
Shiver also mentioned that Love had previously abused her during a trip out of state, but she did not report that incident to the authorities.
Earlier this year, grand jurors indicted Love on three charges, including identity theft.
Shiver herself is also facing serious legal challenges.
Prosecutors claim that Shiver, her alleged lover Terrance Bethel, and another man, Faron Newbold, conspired to have one of them kill her husband, Robert Shiver.
Georgia court records indicate that the Shivers filed for divorce months before police discovered the alleged plot.
If convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, Shiver, Bethel, and Newbold could face up to 60 years in prison, as previously reported by ABC News.
Shiver has been permitted to return to the United States following her arrest.
Robert Shiver is now in a relationship with reality TV star and podcaster Savannah Chrisley, whose parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, are currently serving federal prison sentences for fraud.
Lindsay and Robert Shiver met at Auburn University, where Robert played football. After college, he briefly played for the Atlanta Falcons.
The couple resided in Thomasville and also had a home in the Bahamas before filing for divorce.
Lindsay Shiver is currently awaiting trial in the Bahamas.
