According to various online sources, a tragic hunting accident in Florida claimed the life of Tommy Lazzaro, a former quarterback for Dodge City Community College and Central Michigan University.
At only 27 years old, Lazzaro had an impressive football career, throwing for over 2,200 yards and leading Dodge City to a remarkable 9-3 finish in 2015.
He then went on to play in 19 games over the course of two seasons at CMU. This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the fragile nature of life and the unpredictability of tragic accidents.
Lazzaro guided Pine Creek High School in Monument, Colo. to consecutive Class 4A state championships in 2013 and 2014 before relocating to Kansas.
During his tenure, Lazzaro played a key role in the team’s impressive 24-game winning streak and was instrumental in setting new school records with 3,340 passing yards and 37 touchdown passes.
Lazzaro made his debut as the starting quarterback in five games during the 2018 season for Div. I CMU. He showcased his skills by throwing for a remarkable 153 yards against Michigan State, which marked his highest passing yardage for the season.
In the following year, Lazzaro had limited playing time in 13 games. He completed 4 out of 8 passes for a total of 47 yards. Additionally, he proved to be a versatile player by demonstrating his rushing abilities, carrying the ball 36 times for 161 yards and scoring an impressive eight touchdowns.
