A doctor with a medical practice in Ohio, Colorado, and Kansas has been indicted in a 1989 rape case. Federal agents believe that there may be additional cases involving the doctor, including a recent case in Kansas.
In Cincinnati, Ohio, DNA evidence obtained from a rape incident that occurred in 1989 had previously pointed to the involvement of Frederick Louis Tanzer, who is now 66 years old.
On December 11, Tanzer, a resident of a small town in south-central Ohio, was taken into custody in relation to the rape case.
Federal prosecutors have accused Tanzer of making multiple materially false statements during their questioning regarding the 1989 case. Consequently, Tanzer was indicted by a federal grand jury on six additional counts on Wednesday. These counts include four charges of making false statements and two charges of using a false document or writing.
During Tanzer’s arrest on December 11, investigators executed a search warrant at his residence. They discovered restraints, a gag, a black hat, and zip ties in one of Tanzer’s dresser drawers.
