An Exxon convenience store on Highway 19 North near College Park was the site of a robbery Sunday afternoon, according to Acting Captain Dareall Thompson of the Meridian Police Department.
The robbery unfolded when a group of 4-5 young males, identified as frequent customers of the store, entered and stole several items without paying. When the store clerk confronted them, one of the individuals revealed a weapon by lifting his shirt, causing the group to flee with the stolen goods.
The Meridian Police Department is actively reviewing surveillance footage from the store to identify the suspects. Officials are optimistic that the video evidence will yield critical information leading to arrests.
Acting Captain Thompson emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, with authorities working diligently to locate those responsible for the crime.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. However, details about the weapon and suspects remain undisclosed.
The police department has urged anyone with information about the robbery to come forward and assist in the investigation.
