Dartmouth Police Apprehended Two People In An Alleged Large-scale Retail Theft Ring In Massachusetts And Rhode Island

Local police have arrested two individuals from Massachusetts on charges of shoplifting. However, it is suspected that their involvement may extend beyond this crime.

At around 1:00 p.m. last Friday, the Dartmouth Police were notified of a shoplifting incident at Kohl’s located at 81 Faunce Corner Road. The police have reason to believe that this shoplifting incident is linked to a bigger organized retail crime group.

Eyewitnesses reported that two women were seen at Kohl’s store, hiding several items and making their escape in a dark-colored vehicle. The authorities acted promptly and found the car soon after, pulling it over to investigate.

At the time of the stop, both women confessed to having taken several items from Kohl’s. Upon further inspection, law enforcement officers discovered more items that seemed to have been taken from a different store. In a quick inquiry, the Dartmouth Police found out that merchandise worth more than $4,000 had been stolen from various stores, including Kohl’s, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, and Ulta Beauty. All the stolen items were returned to their respective stores, and both women were arrested and taken into custody.

Dorchester residents, Kaytlyn Lynch (20) and Brooklyn Burns (21), are facing charges of shoplifting over $250 by hiding merchandise, along with one count of receiving stolen property.

According to reports, a group of organized retail criminals, potentially involving these women, has been accused of stealing merchandise worth thousands of dollars from various stores in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
