Bronx Sanitation Worker Hospitalized After SUV Crashes into Him in Alarming Video

Sanitation Worker Critically Injured in Bronx Collision

A sanitation worker in the Bronx was left with severe injuries, including two broken legs, after an SUV struck him and pinned him against his garbage truck, according to authorities.

The incident occurred Monday morning at approximately 8 a.m. on Colgate Avenue near Watson Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood. Ahmad Ladson, 32, was working at the rear of his truck when a Toyota Highlander SUV collided with him from behind, officials and sources reported.

Surveillance footage captured the harrowing moment when Ladson, visibly in agony, became trapped between the vehicles before collapsing to the ground. He was unable to move due to the extent of his injuries.

The SUV driver, a 40-year-old woman, immediately exited the vehicle to assist Ladson, along with another person who appeared to be a fellow sanitation worker. While some pedestrians walked past the scene on the rainy street, they did not intervene, as shown in the video.

Ladson was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition, suffering compound fractures in both legs. The SUV driver, who remained at the scene, was also transported to the hospital for a panic attack, sources revealed. Authorities confirmed that no charges had been filed against the driver as of Tuesday, and the investigation remains ongoing.

A GoFundMe campaign launched to support Ladson’s medical expenses described him as a husband and father of three, with over two years of experience as a sanitation worker.

In a statement, the Department of Sanitation expressed solidarity with Ladson and his family. “Sanitation Workers have a dangerous job, as the horrifying video of this collision shows,” the department stated. “

Sanitation Worker Ladson remains at Jacobi Hospital receiving round-the-clock care, and every single one of New York’s Strongest is incredibly grateful to the medical team there. Our entire Department stands with Sanitation Worker Ladson’s family in this difficult time.”
