Arkansas City Man Arrested on Identity Theft and Other Charges Following Incident

An Arkansas City man was arrested in connection to an incident involving a 14-year-old female. On November 6, police were alerted by the girl, who reported that while walking home from school the previous day, a man in a vehicle approached her and coerced her into getting inside.

The girl stated that the man drove her around the town for a period of time before releasing her safely when she asked to be dropped off.

Following an investigation, detectives identified the suspect as 24-year-old Marvin Andres Chica-Batz. Chica-Batz, who had been previously encountered by police under various false names, was found to have multiple active arrest warrants.

Chica-Batz was arrested on December 11, though the arrest was not directly related to the November incident. It stemmed from several charges, including identity theft, parole violation, and two active warrants from Comanche County for making false statements and forgery.

The case concerning the November incident has been forwarded to the Cowley County Attorney’s Office for further review and consideration of potential charges.
