An Emergency Has Been Declared In Orange County

Due to the ongoing fire, which has covered 4,400 acres as of Wednesday morning, Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus proclaimed a State of Emergency for the whole Town of Warwick and Village of Greenwood on November 13, 2024, at 5 p.m. The proclamation includes the closure of the Greenwood Lake School District on Thursday, November 14, and the restriction of public traffic on East Shore Road from Edgemere to the north entrance of Woods Road.

Neuhaus issued the State of Emergency, urging all inhabitants to remain calm first and foremost. He expressed his gratitude for the obtained cooperation.

“The battle against the forest fire continues in Orange County. In the meantime, we will continue to use combined efforts from the State, County and Local resources and it will involve the occasional emergency declaration. This will allow our teams to get into the areas that need to be extinguished,” Neuhaus said.  “We appreciate your cooperation and thank all first responders who work tirelessly to keep the public safe.”
