According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a man lost his life on Thursday following a multi-county chase in North Carolina. The incident took place in WGHP.
At approximately 2:07 p.m., the troopers made an attempt to pull over a car on Interstate-77 North in Iredell County due to its reckless driving.
As soon as the emergency lights and sirens were activated, the vehicle in question refused to stop, leading to a high-speed chase. It was later discovered that the vehicle had been stolen.
As the pursuit made its way to Surry County, the car involved in the incident ultimately crashed near mile-marker 85 on I-77 North.
The driver was instructed by the troopers to exit the vehicle.
Upon receiving no response, the troopers proceeded to approach the vehicle and discovered the sole occupant, the driver, deceased with an apparent gunshot wound.
A 20-year-old man from Charlotte was identified as the driver.
The investigation continues at this point in time.
