A lottery ticket worth $200,000 was almost thrown away

A man from South Carolina almost threw away his scratch-off lottery ticket, which turned out to be a $200,000 winning ticket. He shared his incredible story of luck and how he almost missed out on his life-changing win.

When the South Carolina Education Lottery officials approached him, the Lowcountry man was convinced that the $5 Emerald Green scratch-off ticket he had purchased from the Speedway station on Ladson Road in Ladson was not a winning ticket.

A few days after receiving the ticket, the player was about to throw it away when a family member gave it a second look. To their surprise, the ticket turned out to be a $200,000 winner.

The player reminisced, “I couldn’t believe it.”

Upon visiting lottery headquarters in Columbia and receiving a check, the man expressed that he didn’t fully believe he had scored a six-figure payday.

He has expressed his intention of investing the prize money which he won.
