Driver in Fatal Crash Violates Suspended Sentence Conditions
The driver involved in a crash that resulted in the deaths of three teenagers has violated the conditions of her suspended sentence.
Hailey Zenk entered an Alford plea in April in connection with the crash that killed Emily McNees, Kaeden Tyler, and Will Flickinger. At the time of the crash, Zenk was 17 years old. In June, she was sentenced to 10 years for driving while intoxicated resulting in two or more deaths, seven years for DWI leading to serious injury, and seven years each for three counts of involuntary manslaughter. However, she was granted a suspended execution of her sentence, allowing her to serve 120 days in jail and five years of probation following her release.
As part of her suspended sentence, Zenk was required to wear a SCRAM alcohol monitor.
On Monday, First Alert 4 confirmed that Zenk’s SCRAM device detected alcohol less than two months after it was installed. Lincoln County Prosecutor Mike Wood confirmed that his office has filed a motion to revoke Zenk’s suspended sentence.
Wood stated that the next steps in the case will be determined by a judge’s decision.
