Police are looking into a fatal shooting that happened early Thursday morning in Southeast Washington.

Around 1:41 a.m., the Seventh District officers received a report regarding a shooting incident in the 3900 block of 1st Street, Southeast. After reaching the location, they discovered a man lying on the road with gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS took the victim to a nearby hospital, but despite their best efforts, he could not be saved and was pronounced dead.

To respect the privacy of the victim’s family, authorities are currently withholding the victim’s identity until the next of kin have been notified.

If you have any information regarding this incident, the police department urges you to contact them at (202) 727-9099 or send a text tip to their TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The D.C. Metro Police Department offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
