Police Investigate Double Homicide in Kansas City; Two Teenagers Identified as Victims
Kansas City law enforcement is investigating a double homicide that claimed the lives of two teenagers, identified as 19-year-old Deontae Marchbanks and 17-year-old Cierra Pennington.
According to Sergeant Phil DiMartino of the Kansas City Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 6000 block of Blue Hills Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers were directed to a parked vehicle, where they discovered Marchbanks and Pennington suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical responders pronounced Marchbanks dead at the scene. Pennington was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after.
The incident is being treated as a homicide, and detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Further details have not yet been released as authorities work to uncover what led to the tragic event.
