A pedestrian safety organization is teaming up with an Indianapolis mother who is advocating for safer roads. Her daughter was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street, prompting her to raise awareness about the issue.
“She represents hope. Ashley Thomas remarked, “She inspires hope.”
Looking at 13-year-old Hope Thomas, it’s clear that basketball is her passion.
Thomas remarked, “This is the same little girl who’s been on the road to the WNBA.”
However, we have temporarily shelved those hopes.
Thomas told WRTV, “A vehicle hit her as she was walking to her bus.”
A 12-year-old struck as she made her way to the school bus.
On the east side of Indianapolis, at the junction of Washington Street and Kitley Avenue, an incident took place on June 26. According to the police, the driver remained at the scene. There are no charges on file.
I was observing my infant daughter as she lay there on the gurney. Thomas remarked, “I am well aware that she was not required to make it.
But she did it after several operations.
Thomas is now one of the numerous people in Indianapolis who are demanding change.
“What is your willingness to pay to reach your goal, and who are you willing to give up on to make it happen?” Thomas questioned.
Eric Holt founded Indy Pedestrian Safety Crisis, an organization that promotes road safety.
“We have a dozen out right now,” Holt stated.
Holt is alluding to the banners that adorn the Indianapolis crossroads. The first banner is located precisely where a car struck Hope.
“When I see that, I feel like nothing.” Zero ought to be the sole appropriate response, according to Thomas.
