IOWA CITY — The Iowa Hawkeyes used a big second half to knock off the Northwestern Wildcats 86-70 in Iowa City Tuesday night. The two teams were tied at halftime at 39 before Iowa broke open the game in the second half. Head Coach Fran McCaffery.

McCaffery says the second half was one of the best halves the teams played all year.

McCaffery says rebounding was key for the win.

Peyton Sandfort and Filip Rebraca combined to score 20 points over the final seven minutes of the game to allow Iowa to pull away. Kris Murray added 16 points with eight rebounds, Tony Perkins had 12 points and Connor McCaffery contributed 11 points. Iowa plays host to Illinois on Saturday before traveling to face #1 Purdue on February 9th

DES MOINES — The Drake Bulldogs will host the UNI Panthers in an in-state Missouri Valley Conference battle tonight at the Knapp Center.

That’s Drake coach Darren DeVries who talks about what direction the Bulldogs have to take to have a chance to win the regular season conference race.

UNI assistant coach PJ Hogan says Drake is coming off a good win at league co-leader Belmont.

Hogan says his team will need to play their best to beat Drake on the road.

Drake is 17-6 overall, UNI is 12-10 overall, with both teams being 8-4 in the Valley, a game behind Belmont and Southern Illinois
